Working with Modeling Paste - by Surreality Art

Underneath 99.9% of my paintings is "Modeling Paste" placed on top of the canvas which is what gives the painting so much texture to begin with. Instead of posting a finished piece of artwork, today I decided to post a photo of one of the fundamental elements to my paintings... of course a classic Buddha with textured Modeling Paste. When this dries, I plan on busting out a rainbow of colors to paint him with using black as the shadowy contrast color. I'll keep you updated on this work in progress.

Featured Painting - Lunar Eclipse Meditation - Now for Sale

http://www.surrealityart.com/Pages/LunarEclipse.aspx

TITLE:  Lunar Eclipse Meditation
SERIES:  Surreality Art & Soul Series
DIMENSIONS:  18 x 18" Square
MEDIUM:  Gold Leaf & Acrylic on Canvas

http://www.surrealityart.com/Pages/LunarEclipse.aspx

Traveling by means of meditation, beyond and past this physical world, beyond our present thoughts & emotions and deeper still, traveling past our ego to the most subtle and genuine part of ourselves... our true authentic self.

This painting has caught a phase in time where the obscuring of light creates a place where light and dark both exist simultaneously, where both opposites compliment one another in an amazing show of light and shadow.

The Lunar Eclipse, when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow, is illustrated here to represent our own outer-lying hopes, wishes, wants and desires, becoming celestial bodies casting shadow and light upon the physical world just waiting to materialize.

Surreality Art Pledges 1 Billion Acts of Green - Earth Day April 22 2016

Surreality Art Pledges 1 Billion Acts of Green!

Motivation & Intent:
For centuries nature has been inspiring artists by its sheer and natural beauty; in my own personal artistic gratitude and in my innate respect towards our planet, I had participated in my first successful Earth Day event in 2014. This event had inadvertently and ultimately changed my thinking and my life! It was then that I realized, I too as an artist have a responsibility of sustaining, protecting and safeguarding this natural beauty we live in now and well into the future.

Taking it One Step Further:
Having already been involved with the conservation and preservation of my fine art paintings for years, it seemed just another natural step to extend my current credence with fine art into a more modern sustainable and comprehensive ecological production, in the making of my fine art. This includes the materials I buy and use, how I use them, the disposal of them and the ethical implications of all produced and manufactured materials used in the creation of my paintings.

A little reminder to those whom are not in the Surreality Art knowing... I had just recently shown my artwork at “The Art Studios” all marked with low low pricing. It is a gift from me to the buyers when I am Not showing at traditional art galleries, as I have to up the prices of my paintings due to showing fees and commission rates. I create art for the people, not for the galleries, so I always reduce my fine art prices when I show at local venues.

I know, I know some people say that it isn't fair to have low prices when they cannot attend the showing. That is simply not true! On my webpage there are PayPal electronic transfer buying options so anyone anywhere with online access can take advantage of my super low prices!

Missed my showing and the low low prices, never miss one again by signing up for my Surreality Art Newsletter. If you sign-up for the SA Newsletter you will... Second Saturday 10-10-15

A portion of my art space.... all hung up and ready to meet and greet people.

My artwork and i. ;)
Some of the artworks available at the showing. This is a picture of only one wall. I had lots of space to hang all my art.

Photo of my meet and greet with people. Gotta love photos that are taken right in the middle of talking to people. :)
A shot of the studio with my larger paintings. A Big Thank You to those who bought my artwork!

There were a small trickle of people in and out... which is nice in order to meet and greet almost everyone... well those people whom aren't too shy to ask about the dynamics behind the artwork. ;)

The portion of the wall containing my featured blue buddha with gold leaf. What a fun piece to create!!!

Thanks again to all those who fell in love with my artwork as much as I have creating them! I hope the pieces you have bought and see everyday make your heart smile for an eternally!

The "Blue Buddha"

My WIP (Work In Progress). The "Blue Buddha"
In many ancient paintings and illustrations Buddha is depicted with blue as his skin color. The symbolism is vast but fundamentally symbolizes medicine, healing and a detachment of materials objects and things and includes such things as transforming anger into mirror like wisdom.

Next is the Gold Leaf application which is completely meticulous work, attaching gold pieces large or small one-by-one and all by hand. Wow!!!

Its almost difficult to apply the gold leaf to this painting as I love how this monochromatic piece looks already. You'll have to come to my Meet & Greet the 10th to see how it came out, or visit my webpage when it is finished. :)
