Organic, Morphing Backgrounds...

I am just loving the organic backgrounds in this series of abstract paintings I am working on. The multitude of layers and layers and layers of paint, one on top of the other create such a gradient yet fluidly abstract background...that it sparks a bazillion possible ideas for me as an artist. So many, that it can sometimes be difficult to narrow the ideas to just one.

As of late, I have been geared towards capturing the spiritual essence of animals... first by using colors that I feel spiritually relates to the animal and its natural environment, yet rendered in my own artistic, minimal & abstract fashion.

The magic in these paintings are the delicate layering of paint one on top of the other, mixing and contrasting each other, blending to make new shades of color, and other contrasts. It is because of these layers, that if you watch the painting throughout the day as the natural light shifts and changes, even under candlelight, so do the background contrasts and colors shift and change. It is a truly magical thing!

This kind of woodsy green, yellow, orange and rusty brown colors were screaming at me to paint them. Either that answer, or maybe B. I just miss the woods. Or you could choose C. All of the above. Remember: There is no wrong answer in art! ;)
