Holi Festival of Colors 2015

The Holi Festival is an ancient Hindu religious festival also known as the festival of colors. The festival begins along side a bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather to sing and dance in the public streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings etc. In the morning friends, family and visitors all gather for the festival of colours where people chase each other with packets of colored chalk (non-toxic and Eco-friendly) are thrown at each other in a free-for-all with love, light and an explosion of color. It is really a sight to see and even more amusing to be a part of!

This series of paintings are multicolored abstract color-field acrylic paintings featuring a variety of iconic spiritual, cultural and religious images including symbols, gods, goddesses and/or devotional representations in relation to the Hindu religious festival and their beliefs. The layers of background colors within each painting depict the traditional chalk colors used in the festival while featuring a henna style technique used in the creation of the paintings. These paintings are currently showing at the Kennedy Gallery, Sacramento CA and available for purchase through to the end of the month featuring a special offer thru the Kennedy Gallery 20/20 Show for those who buy a grouping of 4 or more paintings of your choice.
